The Beauty of Lake Batur in Bali with Mountain Views

Danau Batur stands as the ultimate destination for travelers, both local and international, seeking a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Aside from its breathtaking scenery, the air around the lake is refreshingly cool, given its mountainous location. The majority of the lake’s water comes from rainwater filtered through the mountains, creating a cool and pristine environment. Situated near Mount Batur, it’s no wonder that the air in this tourist area is exceptionally refreshing. In addition to mountain views, visitors can also be captivated by the beauty of the tropical rainforest.

Covering an area of approximately 16 km², with an elevation of around 1,060 meters above sea level and a depth of up to 60 meters, Lake Batur has earned international recognition from UNESCO. The allure and experience of visiting this lake make it a fascinating destination for both local and international tourists. Moreover, the lake’s water contains sulfur, meaning it can change color at certain times.

Besides the undeniable beauty of nature, there are many exciting activities that visitors can enjoy, including:

  1. Boating Around the Lake

If merely enjoying the lake’s beauty from the shore is not enough, try taking in more by boat. Exploring every corner of the beautiful Lake Batur, capturing unparalleled beauty, and engaging in conversations with loved ones—doesn’t that sound like a delightful experience? To go on a boat ride, you need to pay around Rp.500,000 per boat for 10 people. It’s recommended to bring a large group, such as family, for a visit.

  1. Fishing

Whether you’re an avid angler or just looking to try the experience, Lake Batur allows you to fish various types of fish along its shores, including tilapia, carp, snakehead fish, and more. The tranquil and cool atmosphere of the area offers a unique sensation compared to previous fishing experiences. If you forget your fishing gear, Lake Batur provides affordable rental options.

3. Warm Water Soaking

After enjoying the cool air characteristic of Kintamani, you can warm up your body in the Hot Springs near Lake Batur. Some recommended options include Toya Bungkah, Batur Natural Hot Spring, and Toya Devasya Kintamani. To enjoy a soak in the warm water, you need to pay around Rp.70,000 per person.

  1. Visiting the Ancient Village of Truyan

Across Lake Batur lies an interesting village worth exploring. However, you need to use a boat to navigate this village. Truyan Village, also known as Bali Aga, translates to a place where the dead are not buried. It’s advisable not to engage in peculiar activities there.

  1. Culinary Exploration

Completing your Lake Batur experience is a culinary adventure in the surrounding area. One of the most popular restaurants is the Floating Restaurant in Kintamani. Located on Jalan Raya Kedisan, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali, this restaurant offers a variety of delicious menus, including seafood dishes characteristic of the lakeside area.

The North Penelokan Village in the Kintamani District is where Lake Batur is located. If you’re coming from Denpasar, you’ll cover approximately 64 kilometers, with a 2-hour drive. If you’re coming from Singaraja, the distance is shorter at around 58 km, with a 1.5-hour journey. Be cautious during the trip to Lake Batur, as the roads are winding due to the proximity to the mountains. Don’t forget to use Google Maps to avoid getting lost. If driving seems inconvenient, you can use travel services or rent a car with a driver who is familiar with the location and route to Lake Batur.

The entrance fee to the lake tourism area is only Rp.20,000 per person. However, if you bring a private vehicle, there is usually an additional parking fee based on the type of vehicle you have. The parking fee may vary depending on the type of vehicle you bring.
